Classic Film Music on the Organ at Snape Church
on 25th October at 2:00pm.
For our first event after the summer,
the Friends of Snape Church are hosting
organist, sonic artist and arranger Jamie Robertson.
Jamie is a graduate of Goldsmith’s, University of London, with an MA in Music from Kingston University London. He has arranged a selection of the scores from well-known films — including Cinema Paradiso (my favourite), Gladiator (a close second), The Good the Bad and The Ugly (atmospheric) and The Lion King (which I've never seen, but now really want to). Jamie will play these, and several other tunes from well-known films, in a programme which runs for an hour, with no interval. In case we've forgotten any narratives or contexts, his Dad Christopher gives a short introduction to each piece, to bring the films alive again.
The Friends of Snape Church have decided to start this event at 2:00pm, to give everyone time to get home while it’s still light. This accommodates an earlier sunset, and possibly our body clocks, as the (real) clocks will have gone BACK in the morning! Entry and refreshments are by donation as usual.
The louvres in the church tower have been fixed, thanks to the sterling talents of Brian Boulton and his Merry Men. So our next target is to fix the windows' beautiful but rather sorry-looking mullions.
