UPDATED ON 29th JULY, 2026: END OUR BUS DESERT!
—
"Angry residents are fighting to bring back scheduled buses to rural and coastal areas which have been left without a service at all. The charge is being led by locals in Snape who are calling on Suffolk County Council to provide better bus services in east Suffolk. A meeting organised [in Saxmundham] by Jenny Riddell-Carpenter, MP for Suffolk Coastal, was attended by more than 40 people last week.
"She said, 'Rural east Suffolk is a bus desert. We have had services cut back to the bone, and many villages are now left with redundant bus stops that are a constant reminder of the services they once had.'
"Suffolk County Council said they are looking into a potential new coastal service."

You've probably recently received (or are about to) a letter from Jenny Riddell-Carpenter, our MP, inviting us to a public discussion next Wednesday (22nd) on bus services in the Suffolk Coastal constituency. This takes place at the Fromus Centre, behind Saxmundham Library. For those who lack transport (or don't choose to drive) but wish to attend, free lifts are on offer by Snape Good Neighbours — you can contact them on ☏ 0754 1754 426.
ALL prospective attendees should register beforehand at
getcampaigning.co.uk/events/big-bus-discussion.
You only need supply the asterisked question-fields, but of course tick that
"I agree to my details being used to process my registration".
To read about and/or support Jenny's Bus Campaign, you can visit

For those who didn't (for whatever reason) receive Jenny's letter, it is reproduced below, and can be downloaded by clicking upon it.

There is now an email address, snapebuscampaign@gmail.com, so that you can contact the team more directly. As the campaign is supported by them, the email address also appears near the foot of the «Parish Council»'s webpage.

Please visit Facebook at https://fb.watch/GXeiLezQ8O/?fs=e, where you will see our MP Jenny Riddell-Carpenter as she talks about buses, and particularly mentions Snape. She is hoping to work on the issue with whomever becomes our County Councillor (for the new Saxmundham & District Electoral Division) following today's local elections.
Many thanks,

Many residents of Snape Village have been left isolated for the past seven or so years, since the village lost its public bus service. The Snape bus survey (held around October 2025) clearly demonstrates that 94% of those residents and businesses who responded would use a public bus service if it was available. ...
You can read/download the resulting document, entitled
"Call for Action from the Residents and Businesses of Snape",
