Since May 2019, we in the Good Neighbours have performed almost 750 tasks, mostly driving Snape residents to local doctors, now and then to Ipswich Hospital. We appealed back in February last year through E&F for a few good people to assist with driving, and one kindly did so. However, one of us has recently started caring for an ill relative, another is now away for much of the time, and a third has moved out of the village — and that means our driving service could be at risk. Typically we have ten jobs or so a month, with maybe four volunteers available. Two or three more Snape-based drivers would make all the difference to us — especially as we have our own lives to live, and all like a holiday away from time to time!
You can choose the furtherest you're willing to drive, and of course there is no commitment to accept any particular task, but you will need to be (DBS) security-checked — now a greatly simplified and unintrusive procedure. Mileage expenses are reimbursed.
Joining our Team is also a great way of meeting new friends within the village. If you feel that you could help us as a driver — or indeed in any other way, such as helping at our weekly Meet Up Mondays sessions at the Golden Key, befriending, occasional support with shopping, dog-walking — do please contact our Secretary, David McKenna at sgns-secretary@snapevillage.info or on ☏ 0748 489 5871. Thank you.
