The long-awaited Zip Wire is now all installed. A small opening ceremony was held on Friday 27th June, with committee members, Parish Councillors and relatives of both Jimmy Bloomfield and Pauline Kerridge in attendance. Jimmy and Pauline were involved with the management of the Playing Field for many years. Children from the Primary School helped proceedings along, and put the new wire to use — and indeed there have been a number of adults trying it out too!
Many thanks to all those who supported the project.

SNAPE PLAYING FIELD UPDATE
We finally have a date for installation of the new Zip Wire! Site survey will take place at the end of May, with installation early in June.
The field looks good, with the hedges cut back on the inside of the field, allowing the grass-cutter to get better access. The oak trees have been sympathetically trimmed to remove overhanging boughs away from the tennis court. The court itself was professionally cleaned and moss treated in early March, ready for the new season: this was aided by a small grant from the SZC Neighbourhood Fund.
There is plenty of capacity for more use of the Tennis Court. This can be through annual membership or on a pay-and-play basis. Details are on the Tennis Court webpage, or contact Eddie on 07710 137 619.
As always, volunteers would be welcomed with open arms to help with maintenance of the field. In addition, we need one or two more people to make up the full number of Trustees for the Playing Field Management Committee. With just a few meetings each year, this is a way to get involved without massive commitment. The AGM will take place in May, when committee members will be confirmed. Please contact Eddie as above or Tim on 07507 491 219, if you are interested.

The funding for the new Zip-Wire is now all in place, following the Parish Council meeting last Tuesday, 28th January. We have placed the order with Sovereign Play Equipment, a company based near Southend. It is hoped that the project will be completed and ready for use in the Spring.

The zip-wire out of use, 19th June 2023
UPDATE ON 1st AUGUST
—
Snape Playing Field Committee have to inform you of the sad demise of our much loved zip-wire, after 25 years of constant use. This is due to the rotting of many of the wooden posts, making it unsafe to use. We will be replacing it with a stronger constructed one. However, we need around £20,000 first, including installation costs.
Over the coming months, the Committee will be searching for grants and organising fundraising activities, including a Christmas party for children with a very important guest, followed by a dance for the adults on 16th December.
If there are any residents who especially have happy memories of using the zip-wire and would like to make a donation to our fund, or any local businesses that wish to sponsor it, then please contact me.
