UPDATED ON MONDAY, 29th JULY
—
"On a beautiful morning, we completed the row without incident, covering over 4.5 miles in about 1 hour 10 minutes, rowing steadily the whole way and helped by the strong ebb tide.  The conditions were ideal, but nonetheless both Adrian and William were quite tired by the end, though we soon recovered, with William able to join the East Suffolk Skylarks singing in a concert at Snape Maltings in the afternoon."
Congratulations to William and his shipmates for successfully rowing Slaughden to Orford on Sunday, AND reaching their target, at the time, of £500 raised for Alde and Ore Estuary Trust flood-defences funds. Their donations page www.justgiving.com/page/curlew remains open.

A special thank you from The Alde & Ore Estuary Trust
for supporting Aldeburgh to Orford Flotilla 2024
"All donations will help to improve, preserve and protect the Alde and Ore estuary in Suffolk. Our estuary is a unique and beautiful environment. The 44km of river walls provide a crucial defence against flooding, protecting local communities, homes and businesses. They also provide and protect a rich, natural and diverse habitat for an immense variety of flora and fauna. Every donation will help us to upgrade the walls and better protect our estuary communities. Read more at www.aoetrust.org"

William Eddis, a stalwart of Snape's Meet Up Mondays group,
is rowing from Aldeburgh yacht club next Sunday, 28th July at 8:30am.

and he would welcome donations at  www.justgiving.com/page/curlew.  Thank you.
The event is for over 120 swimmers, canoeists, paddle-boarders etc, when

Participants are likely to arrive at Orford Quay between about 9:30am and 11:00.
The early start-time this year — be there for 8:00am — is in order to catch the tide.
