RSPB Botany Marshes

As for all the RSPB's events just now, this walk is CANCELLED. 

We in GreenSnape have been invited on an RSPB-guided walk on their Botany Marshes Reserve — a wonderful, developing nature reserve right on our doorstep, upriver from Snape Bridge, and not normally open to the public.  This follows a series of walks especially for Snape residents over the years since the establishment of the site, which is intended to replace natural freshwater environments that may be lost locally through the policy of "managed retreat".

The RSPB have worked closely with the Environment Agency to create a 49ha wetland adjacent to Abbey Farm, which forms part of a larger 70ha wetland ecosystem.  The Marshes at the Botany Farm Project are designed to create a suitable habitat for a suite of reedbed species, including Bittern and Marsh Harrier.
