GMG: "The Favourite"

Contrary to what you may have heard, Great Movies in Glemham are pleased to announce that the next film to be shown this season will be on Friday, 13th December — "The Favourite" (15) with Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz.

In the early 18th century, England is at war with France.  A sickly Queen Anne occupies the throne, and her close friend Sarah, Duchess of Malborough, governs the country in her stead, while tending to Anne's ill health and mercurial temper.  When a new servant Abigail arrives, the balance of power is disrupted and Sarah loses her influence.  With only scant regard for the true history, this dark comedy is a parade of power plays and diabolical sniping around the Court, with a superb Oscar-winning performance from Olivia Colman as the Queen.

The film also garnered another nine Oscar nominations, as well as seven BAFTA wins and many other nominations and awards.

Doors open at 7:15 pm.  The film starts at 7:45 pm.  This community cinema is open to all readers of "Ebb and Flow".  There is no charge, but donations to help with costs are welcomed.  Wine, soft drinks and nibbles are always available.
